Muaythai sendiri berasal dari thailand, dan thailand sendiri tidak ada hubungannya dengan china. Karena pada masa itu, politik thailand juga sedang bergejolak. Dimana thailand masih dalam kekuasaan jepang dan inggris. 3. Ip man vs mike tyson. Ini lebih aneh, karena baik ip man dan mike tyson sendiri berada di generasi yang berbeda. Beneath the concave cheekbones, the magical handguns with infinite bullet capacity, and the byzantine criminal underworld that stretches to every corner of the globe, he’s just a monosyllabic middle-aged man who wants to be left the fuck alone. When the first movie of this increasingly ridiculous saga began, Mr. Wick was grieving his wife’s death in peace—then some Russian mobsters made the mistake of killing his dog (her name was Daisy, and she was very cute). This aggression, unknowingly committed against a man so dangerous that he used to be known as “Baba Yaga, ” forced John back into the network of contract killers he’d once left behind. And ever since the shadowy crime lords of the High Table sniffed blood, they haven’t lost the scent or minded their own business. At the end of “John Wick: Chapter 2, ” our laconic hero committed a big no-no by shooting a pest on the consecrated grounds of the Continental Hotel, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and every New Yorker knows what it’s like when the world gets a bit too close for comfort. Giddy, exhausting, and breathtakingly violent, “The Roads Not Taken” begins a few seconds after the previous installment left off, with the excommunicated assassin trying to make the most of the hour-long headstart he’s been given to hide before the $14 million bounty on his head is triggered and the entire criminal underworld comes after him. Of course, anyone who’s seen the previous films in this unexpected franchise knows that its criminal underworld is more of an overworld, and that almost every featured extra? —? from street vendors and waiters to dog-walkers and homeless people? —? is a heat-packing hired gun who uses their role in the capitalist system as a disguise for their deeper allegiance to a veiled society that operates on an ancient market of codes and blood oaths. Now that Mr. Wick is square in the middle of all of those crosshairs, it’s become comically impossible for the deathless widower to find the solace he seeks. He’s a target, and it seems like the entire world has its finger on the trigger; he used to be anonymous, but now he’s a celebrity. In its most enjoyably demented moments, “Parabellum” is nothing short of a non-stop metaphor for being famous. Less artful but more concussive than its immediate predecessor, this latest outing finds Mr. Wick being clocked by strangers every time he enters a room, stalked by his biggest fans, and so desperate for someone who will treat him like an actual human being that he travels all the way to the Sahara Desert to find them. Everyone in the world knows him by name, New York City is the only place on Earth he can hide in plain sight, and the perks of his job don’t seem to compare with the harassment that comes with them. As Wick stumbles through the wet neon streets of Times Square—returning us to a surprisingly involved film world that flows like “The Raid” and looks like a hyper-saturated Instagram feed? —? it’s hard not to think of Reeves’ recent experience on a malfunctioning airplane, and how even that death-defying ordeal was turned into a viral moment (to the actor’s mild chagrin). Reeves once said that Wick was 40% him, but that number seems to have crept up a bit this time around. No movie has ever expressed the fight for anonymity with such viscerally literal force. True to the serialized nature of its title, “The Roads Not Taken” starts in media res and ends on a cliffhanger. For an 131-minute film that devotes roughly 110 minutes of its runtime to people shooting each other in the head at close range, it would be almost impossible to follow for someone who isn’t up to speed. Still, the gist of the plot is pretty simple: John Wick kills a lot of people. Like, a lot of people. By the end of “Parabellum, ” he’s basically the leading cause of death in henchmen between the ages of 25 and 50. More of a one-man massacre than ever before (but just raggedy enough to keep things “real”), Mr. Wick fights in a punishingly brutal style that builds on what director Chad Stahelski invented for the character in the previous films. This is a character who appears to know every single language under the sun, but violence is the most expressive part of his vocabulary (Reeves speaks maybe 100 words in the entire movie). Chinese wushu, Japanese judo, Southeast Asian silat, American Glock… Wick is fluent in them all. But while Stahelski and his team have obviously put a great deal of thought into every frame of fisticuffs, “Parabellum” is so relentless that it often devolves into a numbing flurry of shoulder flips and headshots. If “Chapter 2” bordered on high art for how cleverly it weaved tactical shootouts into public locations (and made every fight operate like an organic bit of world-building), “Chapter 3” is more out in the open. A sneaky little skirmish in Grand Central Station doesn’t live up to Stahelski’s creative potential, even if it’s amazing they pulled off the scene at all. Elsewhere, a motorcycle chase along an empty Manhattan bridge is too rushed and blurry to deliver the “Fury Road” ferocity it teases, and the climactic brawl? —? which makes great use of some familiar faces, and hinges on a funny dynamic of mutual respect—is overwhelmed by a set that looks like a high-end watch commercial, and feels like a watered-down retread of the house of mirrors sequence from the end of the previous movie. Driven by a profound respect for the expressive power of beating someone to death, and empowered by their 54-year-old star’s remarkable skill and commitment, Stahelski and the other poets of percussive carnage that work at his 87Eleven Productions are still (a severed) head and shoulders above the rest of Hollywood’s stunt community. But they can do more with this character, even if it means slowing things down and widening them out. To that end, it’s telling that the most exciting brawl in “Parabellum” (with the possible exception of a knife fight in a Chinatown antiques store) maintains a more expansive vision, as Mr. Wick fights alongside Halle Berry and some four-legged sidekicks. Traveling to Casablanca for reasons that are never adequately explained, Mr. Wick meets up with an assassin named Sofia who owns a pair of well-trained Malinois dogs; like every other supporting character in this movie, there’s mixed blood between them, and she owes him something for some reason. There are coins and seals and lots of jibber jabber about High Table manners and then “Game of Thrones” star Jerome Flynn shows up as a Bronn-like business type who’s a bit too greedy for his own good (it’s hard to tell what accent Flynn is doing here, but he’s most definitely doing it). When the bullets fly, Sofia’s very The Roads Not Taken lend a valuable assist, and Stahelski has to open things up in order to frame the dogs as they chew on fresh corpses. The sequence is very “John Wick” and horribly terrific in a hand-over-your-mouth kind of way; it does more than any of the tossed-off business with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburn) or the Continental Hotel owner (Ian McShane) to whet our appetites for another adventure. Anjelica Huston is also somewhat wasted as the matriarch of a Harlem ballet academy with ties to Wick’s past, but her scenes are so immaculately shot that you’re willing to let it slide. In a film that plays fast and loose with NYC geography, all is forgiven by turning 175th street’s United Palace into the “Tarkovsky Theater, ” where people are trained to be killers in between performances of “Swan Lake. ” The film’s world-building works best in small doses. A meeting in the middle of the desert is a total dead end, whereas all sorts of fun details can be inferred from Stahelski’s frequent cutaways to the High Table nerve center, where dozens of tattooed and lip-glossed workers monitor Wick’s bounty with an old-fashioned switchboard (imagine a SuicideGirls reboot of “Mad Men” and you’ll have the right idea). Non-binary “Billions” star Asia Kate Dillon plays a stiff and slinky High Table adjudicator who’s covered in Thierry Mugler coture; part referee and part femme fatale, their performance speaks to an underworld that’s sustained by a mutual respect for all people so long as they don’t shoot the wrong target. While this franchise is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth, such details suggest that screenwriter Derek Kolstad (here sharing credit with three other scribes) can still mine this world for plenty of new life, so long as future installments find a way to deepen the John Wick mythos instead of just stretching it out. With the significant exception of “Mission: Impossible, ” this is easily the best action franchise Hollywood has going these days, and it would be great for it to keep going with renewed focus. The fact that Keanu Reeves is nearing 60 won’t matter to his fans. For one thing, the man is seemingly ageless. For another, retirement no longer seems like a realistic option for a guy who still gets recognized everywhere he goes. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Hollywood star or a $14 million bounty—fame can be a difficult thing to shake. It’s a work-or-die world, and being forgotten is neither on the table nor under it. Already recognised as one of India’s best known theatre personalities and India’s youngest Padma awardee in theatre, playwright-director-actor Mohammad Ali Baig has received multiple national and global honours and awards. This time, beginning August first week, his well-known play, “Quli: Dilon ka Shahzaada”, as well as his new production “1857: Turrebaz Khan” have both been invited to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016. While “Quli” has already seen several productions across the world, “Turrebaz Khan” will be premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, before travelling to London and then returning to Hyderabad. Excerpts from an interview: Tell us about your new play, “1857: Turrebaz Khan”, and its central character? Turrebaz Khan was a heroic figure in Deccan history, known for his valour and courage. There is a slang in Hyderabad folklore, a positive one — “Turram Khan”. When you call someone that, you are calling him heroic. That comes from Turrebaz Khan’s name. He was a revolutionary figure freedom fighter, who revolted against the ruling design of the 4th Nizam of Hyderabad and the British. He attacked the British residency, which now houses the women’s college in Koti in Hyderabad, to free his comrade who was detained on charges of treachery without a fair trial by the British. He was caught and detained, but even the jail he was put in couldn’t hold him. After a year, he escaped, and then was caught in the forest of an area called Toopran, near Hyderabad. The man who caught him, Qurban Ali Baig, was the talukdar there. Turrebaz Khan was kept in captivity, then shot, and then his body was hanged in the centre of the city to prevent further rebellion. That is his story. When you read about 1857, places like Delhi, Meerut, Lucknow, Jhansi and Mysore, all of them are mentioned, but Hyderabad isn’t. This is because the Nizams were allies of the British, and there was no reason to fight. But with Turrebaz Khan, there came a brief period when Hyderabad joined the struggle, the uprising. Does the play follow Turrebaz Khan’s life? No, the structure of the play is very interesting actually. It follows the last one hour of his life in captivity, and that one hour is also the duration of the play. It shows the difference between the man who has been captured, and his captor, Ali Baig. They are both sons of the same soil, are of the same colour, but they stand on opposite sides. Ali Baig has allied with the British. He is a man who is privileged in more ways than one, and he has no problem with who his allies are — Indians, British, French. His life is about his own family and prosperity. From his point of view, Turrebaz is “naïve”, and immature. For Turrebaz, Ali Baig has a self-serving agenda. How does the play deal with this clear difference between the two men? There are two people, one placating the system, another one going against it in the name of his motherland. Neither one is shown as the villain. Both are victims of their situation. The play is about discrimination and about oppression, two issues that are relevant anywhere in the world. It can be discrimination of blacks and whites, of haves and have nots, east and west. The play brings both sides of the story out by bringing out both characters. There is very interesting wordplay between the two, philosophical debates which explore different sides of the story. At one point, Ali Baig says to Turrebaz that you talk about leaving your home to fight for your motherland, but what about your own mother at home? What about your aging father, who needs you? Before you, there have been so many others who tried to revolt against the British empire, and look what happened to them. To this, Turrebaz replies that his motherland is more important to him than his mother; that if he is killed, the world will remember him. No one will remember Qurban Ali Baig. There are many such debates and wordplay between the two characters and the play is an intense drama. I’ve used live percussion— marfa, dhol, etc. — to complement the dialogues. The research must have been challenging. Do you supplement it with a lot of fiction? A lot of research went into this play. It is definitely a challenge, because you can’t fictionalise plays like these too much. You have to pay due respect and maintain sanctity, when you portray these historical figures, since there is no one around to correct the errors. Forget political correctness, you have a responsibility of not putting them in a light that is not morally and ethically right. You can’t sit in judgement. For this play, we have picked the aspects of the story that are relevant to today’s global scenario, since it has to make sense to lot of audience everywhere. My wife, Noor, who is also my co-playwright, has done most of the research, and a lot of it is also based on research by authorities who have written on Turrebaz. You spoke about the need to make your play’s relevance to audience across the world. Tell us about the responses you get from these audience? How do you see them connecting to your work? If you take “Quli”, which is the legendary love story on which Hyderabad is supposed to be founded, or “Spaces”, which is about the thought of sticking to your home and heritage, and about traditionalism versus modernism; both could be about people and lives anywhere in the world. We don’t stick to judgement; we don’t say who is right and who is wrong. Our purpose is to bring out an issue, and let the audience decide their own views. I’ve taken these plays to English, Turkish, Romanian, Bosnian, Iranian, American audiences, to name a few. “Spaces” moves them to tears; many of them come backstage to me and tell me that this is their story. “Quli” too, sees the audience connecting to it. When they are moved, it moves me as a playwright; it shows me that the kind of theatre I believe in is working, that despite the barrier of language and context, people can connect with these plays. I hope that “1857: Turrebaz Khan” will do that same. Your productions, held in forts and ruins, are known for usually being larger than life. How difficult is it to travel with these productions? The earlier plays that I mounted were really huge and I was stuck with own vision of them, so we couldn’t travel. But since the last few plays, like “Spaces”, “Quli” and now “Turrebaz”, I’m still mounting them on a big scale, but I’ve tried to make them production sensible. I keep the portability in mind, so that now we are travelling light, but the end result is still grand. Of course, adapting a play I stage in forts and ruins to a festival setting is difficult, but so far, we have managed to do it successfully.

YouTube. "Come to Daddy" turned out to be so much different from what I imagined - and props for that. This is one of those movies that rejects genre classification, for Ant Timpson and Toby Harvard have compiled a variety of elements, emotions and oddities and have done it organically, no less. Furthermore, Elijah Wood & Stephen McHattie tops off this eccentric cocktail with sparkling performances.
A man in his mid-thirties, an urbanite (Elijah Wood) receives a letter of invitation from his father whom he hasn't seen in 30 years & so he journeys to his father's remote cabin by the sea. I had seen the trailer before, read an article or two, but little did I know what I thought will go on for 90 minutes went on only for about 30. The story twists and turns multiple times (from which there are 2 'major' turns) while also keeping a coherent and all-weaved-through emotional ground, consistency. My only complaint is the underwhelming revelation of the fact that Stephen McHattie is not there for the long run. I like the guy a lot. But, naturally, it didn't take away anything for "Come to Daddy" has what it takes to engage and entertain all throughout. Amusing characters, witty dialogue, pitch-black humor, pumped-up and gnarly action, certain and stable moral core. First half an hour, the son meeting the father, plays like a Tarantino movie, just throw in the kind of suspense and creepiness only the horror genre can provide. Next up is a man in a storm of confusion, demons and machinations & in the end we count the fates and enjoy the action. As for the audiovisual/aesthetical qualities, Come to Daddy" is shot and edited together tastefully, the technical side holds up to the rest of the goodies.
Keeping in my mind that this is Ant Timpson's directional debut, I'm excited to see what else is there to come. More than a solid start. "Come to Daddy" is a top-tier, highly creative, excellently performed indie flick, a dark comedy with the undertones of several other genres. My rating: 8/10.

Da se u priči filma ipak ne krije zamjetna doza inteligencije, rekla bih da govori i o blesavoći onih koji vole gledati takve filmove. Postoji jedna stvar povezana s nasiljem na filmu koja me strašno živcira, a to je ona situacija u kojoj me pametni, vješti i duhoviti redatelji ili scenaristi uspijevaju natjerati da uživam u prizorima nasilja. Živcira me to zato što ne želim uživati u prizorima filmskog nasilja pa to doživljavam kao zlonamjernu manipulaciju. Postoji i još jedna stvar zbog koje me to živcira. Ta je druga stvar onaj faktor X zbog kojeg filmsko nasilje postaje prihvatljivo, čak i smiješno, a da taj faktor X nije povezan direktno s pričom. Riječ je o situaciji u kojoj nasilje ne proističe iz priče u pravom smislu riječi, kao što proističe u filmovima o mafiji i kriminalu - nego proističe iz redateljskog ili scenarističkog stava, odluke da se nasiljem posluži kao estetskim sredstvom. Moglo bi se čak reći da takvi redatelji i scenaristi na neki način stoje izvan moralnog odnosa prema nasilju, nego ga koriste kao dio opisa bizarnosti i gluposti ljudskog stanja, kao dio onoga: ha-ha-pogledajte-kako-su-ljudi-blesavi-i-smiješni. Tarantino ima posebno dobar dar za to, a ima ga i Ant Timpson, novozelandski producent koji je režirao nedavno izašli crnohumorni triler 'Dođi k tati'. Jedna od najgorih stvari koje takvo poigravanje sa smiješnim nasiljem izaziva u gledateljstvu jest to što takvi filmovi nerijetko postaju kult-favoriti, nošeni na krilima katarzične radosti velikog dijela muške publike, koja se raduje tome što im redateljeva ili scenaristička inteligencija i duhovitost daju alibi da se oduševljavaju krvavim prizorima nasilja. Neki će pritom shvatiti zbog čega je takvo nasilje prikazano u filmu, ali će im - ruku na srce - biti svejedno jer smatraju da valja poštivati onaj stari postulat po kojem nije dobar nijedan film u kojem nema ŠŠŠ-a (ševe, šore i šege) - a neki neće shvatiti ništa, ali će im biti drago što je nasilje, koje obožavaju barem u filmovima, dobilo estetski i umjetnički kredibilitet. A kada netko, kao Ant Timpson, snimi film u kojem je takav stav prema filmu i nasilju praktički cijela poanta, onda gledateljica poput mene odjednom osvijesti onaj praiskonski strah od muškaraca. Jer bez obzira koliko inteligentni, civilizirani, pripitomljeni i profinjeni bili - oni kojima je superfora kada tip plamenobacačem sprži histeričnu ženu u bazenu ili oni kojima je smiješno kada glavni lik čovjeka s otvorenom ranom kroz koju viri mozak probode potrošnim uredskim materijalom - ljudsku sklonost nasilju ne kriju čak ni preduboko u sebi. A kada onda još redatelj u takve svojom vještom manipulacijom uključi i mene - ne radujem se. 'Dođi k tati' u sebi sadrži sve to - i pretjerano, i u scenama sladostrasno razvučeno, i nadasve kreativno nasilje, ali i taj stav, taj postupak zbog kojeg nasilje postaje smiješno i bizarno, nešto nad čim se ne moramo sablažnjivati, nego se slobodno možemo smijati. Idealan je kandidat za kult-favorita. Govori o mladiću po imenu Norval Greenwood (Elijah Wood), kojeg je otac napustio kada je imao pet godina, a onda mu, trideset godina nakon toga, poslao pismo u kojem ga moli da ga dođe posjetiti. Norval iz udobne kuće na Beverly Hillsu, gdje još živi sa svojom majkom, odlazi na sjeverozapadnu obalu Amerike (nigdje nije točno naznačeno gdje, ali film je snimljen nedaleko od Vancouvera u Kanadi) i ondje, na jednoj stijeni ponad prekrasne pacifičke plaže, pronalazi neobičan dom svojeg oca te čovjeka koji se isprva oduševi kada ga vidi, a onda, tijekom nekoliko dana koji slijede, koristi svaku priliku da bi svojeg sina ismijao, ponizio i uvrijedio. Nije sasvim jasno zašto Norval odmah, nakon prvog ponižavajućeg nastupa svojeg oca, ne napušta kuću i čovjeka koji ionako trideset godina nije ni pitao za njega, ali moguće je da riječ o kompleksaškoj potrebi za očevim odobravanjem i nadom da u očima vlastitog oca neće ispasti 'nemuško', no Norval iz kuće ne odlazi ni nakog što ga ovaj pri plivanju u moru pokuša napasti bacanjem kamena. Neurotično fiksiranje na to da od oca dobije odgovor zašto ga je sada pozvao k sebi (a zapravo - zašto ga je ostavio), Norvala u kući zadržava dan za danom, sve dok ga jednog dana zajedljivi, alkoholičarski nasilnik čijem se odobravanju potajno nada, ne napadne satarom za meso, ali pritom doživi srčani udar i - umre. Come To Daddy, foršpan Izvor: Društvene mreže / Autor: YouTube Iako je već i do tog trenutka film ispunjen bizarnim, sirovim prikazima okrutnog odnosa jedne vrste muškaraca (psihopatskog nasilnika koji misli da je frajer) prema drugoj vrsti muškaraca (nježnog i osjećajnog luzera kojeg smatra prirodnim neprijateljem), u filmu tek od tog momenta nastaje tarapana. Norvalu se gotovo doslovno izmiče tlo pod nogama i on saznaje da je gotovo sve što je vjerovao o svojem ocu, ali i o svojem životu - bila laž. No unatoč tome, Norval biva uvučen i nagovoren da brani i svojeg oca i svoj život kao da u njima i kao da u tom činu obrane postoji bilo kakva čast. I kao da je sve to - sav taj život koji zapravo ne postoji - vrijedan zapadanja u ubilačko ludilo, krv i progon. Ant Timpson dobrano se potrudio da cijelu stvar odvede nekoliko koraka iza apsurda pa je to nerijetko izrazito smiješno, ali do kraja filma ostat će nam samo dojam da su odnosi između očeva i sinova generalno vrlo s***ana stvar i da je definicija muškosti koja iz njih proizlazi nešto što bi trebalo otjerati u što udaljenije predijele svijeta, po mogućnosti što dalje od civilizacije, zakona i funkcionalnog društva. I to je okej. To je zbilja zanimljiva teza i zanimljiva tema za film. Problem je jedino to što je utopljena u moru krvi i onog 'smiješnog nasilja' s početka pa se većina gledatelja kojima će se film svidjeti zapravo uopće neće obazirati na to, nego samo prepričavati koliko su cool scene u kojima muškarci jedni drugima razaraju genitalije i umrtvljuju mozak. A ja se - iako ovaj film suštinski smatram pametnim i vješto složenim - ne bih nikako htjela ni na koji način ubrajati među takve. Sadržaj, stavovi i mišljenja izneseni u komentarima objavljenima na tportalu pripadaju autoru i ne predstavljaju nužno stavove uredništva tportala. Not an horror, action, neo-noir, crime drama. its a black comedy. And, like most black comedies, they don't appeal to all viewers. Still a good one.
